       My UPS package is apparently being held hostage at a Frankfurt facility since 2019-10-10. I didn’t get a ransom demand yet.

       @mgr I'm surprised they haven't shipped it back yet. I lost a USPS package going to Jena .. $1k laptop I was giving to a friend. I had moved from my previous address without a forwarder and I was on the road. When I checked, it was lost and USPS said it was too late to file an insurance claim. They had a returned mail warehouse in Atlanta, but after three months they said it wasn't found there and gave up. Fuckers.

       @djsumdog Probably because someone touched ("processed") in the meantime, but that’s also more than one week ago by now.It’s a shame shipping boxes with stuff around the world is still such a high risky process. One could assume we figured it out by now.

       @mgr I'm guessing a big part of the fees goes to the shipping company itself, for graciously taking 19% of the value of the shipment from you.IIRC everything over 23 EUR (including shipping costs) warrants an import-tax of 19%.I've had this happen to me for packages from the US.
