@papush They're good, it's just sometimes you can't get into them. I used to love them. Played so much Black and White and Diamond and Pearl that I wore the B button on my controller out! Haven't been able to get into them since really :( I did finish XY and apparently logged almost 50 hours

@papush @cccam Were you a kid or an adult when you tried it? I loved the games as kids but if I discovered them now I'd probably just seem them as a slow turn-based RPG

@cccam i’m just not that big a fan of games that involve randomness and blindly grinding for xp, and also all the games feel like re-releases of the same game with little to no change to the gameplayit’s mostly just not my type of game tbh i get that some like them i just wonder why it’s SO popular sometimes

@papush They are addictive and almost everyone played them at some point. They're polular and easily recognisable characters in a world that's easy to understand and safe for everyone. Very good marketing.

@papush i agree actually, the gameplay isn't really that strong - never has been - but it's kind of enjoyable to go across a region, listening to nice music, and catching designs that are to your fancy, evolving them, feeding them, petting them, that kind of thing.i admit that it's something i stick with mostly for nostalgia, but i still enjoy aspects of it. not too interested in the new gen, though, because the new pokemon aren't really to my tastes. and neither are the girls

@kaori i can definitely relate to the world to explore freely and cute creatures, as a v young kid i’d play on my cousin’s gameboy just roaming around and asking him to do the fights for me i liked thatbut the fight/levelling mechanic is what really bothers me, i’d rather have a pokemon-themed nintendogs hybrid tbh idkthat and all the games being basically the same i guess

@kaori it’s mostly a matter of preference though i guess, i’ve never been a fan of turn-based combat and levelling systems they feel too fake to me
