Yesterday, my husband and I took an unfortunate trip into the Twilight Zone of Lib Land.A synagogue in NY State was honoring it’s long-time rabbi. He had been the rabbi in our local synagogue a long time ago abd we’d been invited. He’s a very fun guy who made GREAT sermons. He moved on to a larger synagogue.This was long before BO was elected, before the ugliness & insanity of the Left became so public.The event started with a prayer for the “beloved Elijah Cummings.” 😮

Who knew? Cummings “built bridges between Blacks & Jews.” He headed a foundation that provides “young Black ambassadors” with excursions to Israel. “The Elijah Cummings Youth Program”😐Everyone was ooh-ing and ah-ing, “G-d bless him!,” blah, blah, blah. My hubby and I politely listened.This proceeded into a spiel about those from foreign lands, seeking refuge...blah, blah, blah.🙄Won’t bore you all with the other Lefty kaka.We went out for dinner with the rabbi and his wife afterwards.

I was blunt with our friend, this rabbi, over dinner. It was just the 4 of us. He’s honestly a good guy. I remember how blurt he always was...so...Long story short, he understands my political position. He said he has to be “very careful” with his sermons. Told me, “A Reform Jew who’s a Conservative will be uncomfortable in a Reform synagogue.” Said, these days, “Reform Jews are to the Left of Left.” Asked him why — said it’s just the way it is.One last thing —

I asked his take on the treatment of Kavanaugh during the hearing.I wish I hadn’t asked.😒He replied, “I wish Kavanaugh hadn’t lied. I’ve been involved with many private high schools. Most of those boys are/were pricks.”He thinks Kavanaugh was crying at the hearing because of “shame over his past behavior.”I gave him my take on it, spared no words, told him I couldn’t believe how he’s changed since we last got together (our son’s bar mitzvah (20 yrs ago).All in all — a shitty time.

@rarity I just don’t understand Jews anymore. I have some in my family. Some are conservative and some left. WTF is wrong with NYC JEWS? They are hard left or no longer identify as Jew. @rarity My husband and I marvel all the time about why Jews here in America remain so liberal. We love Israel, he has been there 8 times, I've been once. Messianic Jews are friends of ours and have led many of the excursions; eager to hear our take on the gospels. We love the tiny nation and pray for her in the ME. We wonder why people of such depth of history cannot have their political eyes open to GOP/Trump as freedom instead of oppression. Capitalism gave them wealth -& they vote BLUE?SMH

@A_friend SMH also.There are many Christians who think the same way as Reform Jews. We have friends who are Evangelical Christians, Baptists, born again! — and despise Trump. Fortunately, they live in Australia and can’t vote here. The wife is a US citizen, but it’s supposedly a huge hassle to cast a vote here...from there.Our POTUS is a light unto the nations, as far as I’m concerned.

@ThomasWic That is partially true. I think much of it is brainwashing. Jews tend to live on the Coasts and in California because that is where many of our families settled when we came to the New World. We stayed there because that's where we could build our synogogues with less harassment at the time. I pray that Jews in NY are opening their eyes to the rising Jew-hate on the left. @ThomasWic @A_friend @rarity The other problem is that Reform Jews have changed the liturgy so much that they have disassociated themselves from Israel, and have decided that Tikkun Olam means "Social Justice", and not healing ourselves in order to be able to be 'a light unto the nations.' My mom, a Trump Republican, says she can't even say the President's name in her Conservative (the Jewish movement, not the political movement) Temple because people have TDS.

I always question them and they only ever know media talking points. They hear nonstop negative from our media but don't get to experience the positives of Trump's economy or anything else. Our Temple was mostly scientists, engineers, etc. - many of whom were Soviet refugees - and politically conservative, big Reagan fans. The other Temple was more mainstream Reform - meaning, Democrat all the way - and thought Reagan was evil "Ronnie Raygun"! I remember it well because it was my first "political shock".

At the wedding I was talking to his folks (in their 80's) and when I mentioned that Trump is the greatest US leader they were SHOCKED! They asked a lot about him and it was obvious that all they ever see of him is the CNN version. They had a good election afterward and I tole them maybe they now have a Trump. They are very open to my opinion, hopefully it spreads!
