I hate web apps, can someone knock me out? Seriously though, I look forward to learning Qt so I can build real applications.

The web was not designed for full blown applications. HTML was for your text. CSS for your style. JavaScript made it do a few things. Right? Websites were websites, not webapps.

Of course, for this kind of purity, you have to go back very far, when it was first invented.

@masterofthetiger Yea, so much of what we do today is bolted on. I personally hate React apps, or people who use vue.js or Ract for like their personal blogs and content sites. My own website has minimal Javascript and I'm going to try to remove more of it if I can.

@PetabyteStudios That's not exactly what I am talking about. Especially since the codebase is simple and it doesn't use insane frameworks.

@masterofthetiger I avoid using any JS libraries, they make my projects a lot slower and heavier in size.

@PetabyteStudiosI am talking about big and complex apps which compile their source code into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Things are incredibly complex and go against what we think of as normal web standards.

@PetabyteStudios I am not talking about editors at all. Those can certainly be a part of it though. I am talking about full on webapps which were built with all sorts of technologies which compile to standard web technologies. Like React, Angular, and many others. The web should mostly be for websites in my opinion. But mostly I just hate making webapps. Make things run server side if you want things to work better.

@masterofthetiger @PetabyteStudios I go the other way, since I started making webapps with Elm. I never do anything on the server that an be done in the browser.

@billstclair I keep going back and forth on this. I think that real downloaded apps are the way to go. Or at least use something designed for this kind of thing. The web was not designed for webapps. @PetabyteStudios

@masterofthetiger @PetabyteStudios The web was defined for static HTML, served straight from a file system, written in a text editor. Fortunately, the design supports a whole lot more.

@PetabyteStudiosI understand. But they really should use programs which you actually install instead. However, I know you have no choice in the matter.
