Software I use, but which does not qualify as "great":- vim- dash- weechat- qutebrowser- git- C, Python, Go- Linux, BSDSoftware which I use and would describe as bad:- mastodon- wpa_supplicant- openssh- qtwebengine (qutebrowser backend)

@sir If you transitioned from vim to emacs you would be able to add a "great" item to your list!

@sirIf you don't like wpa_supplicant, check out iwd: https://lwn.net/Articles/770991/ and https://media.ccc.de/v/ASG2019-147-iwd-state-of-the-union/playlistHaven't tested it myself yet, but it already got my attention by having 1/10th of the SLOCs of wpa_supplicant.

@sir hmm I never use the wpa config files, just start it in dbus mode and let NetworkManager mess with it

@martijnbraam dbus and network manager are also bad, so obviously that just makes it worse

@sir well you're going to need something dynamic to have devices connect to wifi without root permissions, there's also the disgusting intel wpa_supplicant replacement.Maybe wifi config should be in a virtual filesystem?

@martijnbraam I don't really have an issue with becoming root to solve problems. But yeah a filesystem would be nice

@sir do you mean it would be better to split it into encrypted tunneling tool and a set of utilities for remote shell, file transfer, port forwarding, SOCKS and so on - all over the same secure channel?

@sir Maybe I'm too late, but did you know about wyeb browser? It a really simple frontend with vi keybindings for webkitgtk and it is written in C. It works really nice as qutebrowser alternative.https://github.com/jun7/wyeb

@sir Which features are missing right now? Apart from handling more windows, which I guess was a design choice.
