       You can't copy-paste string literals from any other language into Microsoft PowerShell because some CP/M programs used '/' to mark options, which was inherited by DOS. As a result, programs would think path components were options. Instead, they used '\' as a separator, which is C's escape character. Windows inherited this. Later, in order to avoid '\\'s all over the place, PowerShell used '`' as the escape character, so now its string literals are incompatible.

       Microsoft's big problem is inherited terribleness. They never fix the problems with their software, they just pile more stuff on top to hide the problems.
