I turned off all the lights.The way my house was built, anyone coming in the back door has to go down a short hallway.I could see the guy through my kitchen windows, but he couldn't see me.Big, fat, tall guy. He'd pound on the door and then put both hands on his face.

I didn't retrieve my gun because I could see the guy clearly, and even if he got into the house, there are about ten things I can do before having to shoot him.He was a Hispanic homeless guy.In California, shooting a Hispanic homeless guy even if he broke into your house would bring a world of hurt down on your head.But he wouldn't go away, so I called the cops.Took them ten minutes to arrive, even though the station is three minutes away.

Another reason I didn't use my gun is that the cops were utterly incompetent.I told them to come to the back door.They went to the front door.I described myself to the 911 operator.The cops didn't know who I was.They said they had no proof that anyone had pulled off the door handle. I may have done it myself.They said maybe the homeless guy was a friend of mine.

He's spending all his time with his new friends.Years ago I read that when the parents of adult children die without a form of resolution, the children become the parents.All five of my siblings have become our parents. I'm the only one who didn't, because I resolved my issues before our parents died.Also, all five of my siblings buried the past.I'm immersing myself in it, reverse engineering everything. I suspect they were happy when he broke into my house because at least he'd be off the street. Keep calling the police, in case you do have to shoot him. My current home tells me how long my camper can be in my driveway, how tall my grass can be, when I have weeds in the flower beds, what color my trim will be.....I'm about ready to split. @ThomasWic Before I retired and bought the farm here, I had a busy, stressful life. I worked in animal medical research at the University of Minnesota. It has taken 3 years to learn to gear down and stop being hyper-aware of what time it is. I finally took off my watch this summer and I don't routinely carry my cell phone. I have also learned to be good to myself. I make myself a really nice breakfast most days. I take a few minutes to scratch the pigs' backs when I feed them. Utter bliss.

We are a God fearing people, we love Texas first then the USA, most of us in the rural areas voted for Trump and will do it again. Here we had cops waking us up at 230 to ask us if we knew the guy sleeping in our 66 mustang parked on the street that didn't have locks. Nope. They cuffed him and took him away. @ThomasWic You should take a trip to Idaho and visit Idaho Falls, if snow in winter doesn’t bother you, it’s a great little town (hopefully the California transplants stay away). If you visit, you will see people being kind to each other, crime is almost non-existent and since it’s a red state you will have freedoms you only dream of now.

@ThomasWic @Baline Tennessee and Kentucky are both beautiful, but why don't you cross the mountains into Virginia? We can use all the sane voters we can muster up. We have everything from mountains to beach, ocean to lakes, flatlands to rolling hills... we are rich in historical areas, amusement parks, tourist areas, and little towns surrounded by farmland and forests.One thing I would suggest when looking for land, is to make sure that there is a hospital and a fire station close by. 👍

@ThomasWic The desert is my soul space for some silly reason. I just feel at peace. I dislike Vegas because of all the hub-bub but the surrounding areas out near Overton and Mesquite are extremely peaceful and not crowded.If solitude is your ideal, it is out there.

@ThomasWic @Dawnz Thomas, be careful!! I'm overseas at the moment and just read this. I also had a guy come to my door a few months ago at midnight, he wouldn't go away so I called the police. He left before they got here, but it freaked me out. Also a homeless guy slept overnight in my van, the one and only time it was unlocked. He left his jacket and prescription glasses. I'm not even in a bad area in Los Angeles.

@ThomasWic I am so sorry this happened to you. While I know you can take care of yourself, it’s also very scary. On September 5, 2001, we were victims of a violent home invasion. Long story, my husband fought the guy for about 10ish minutes before the police came. It felt like 10 hours. It was 1:30am. The guy had crashed through the glass in the door in the basement and ran up the stairs all the way up to our bedroom. There was blood all over the house bc of the glass cuts.

@ThomasWic We had to call a Crime Scene Cleanup Service to clean up the house. They ripped up every carpet and cleaned the walls. We had to throw away a lot of the kids toys bc they were in the basement and there was so much shattered glass. It’s been a long time since this happened but stories like this remind me. It was a weird case. All of the LEOs involved still remember it. Same with the judge. Please be careful Thomas. I’m praying for your safety.

@BigDogOh true. I had completely forgotten about that. In our case, the guy was my next door neighbor’s ex-husband. He thought he was breaking into his house. His ex-wife got remarried and he wanted to beat up the new husband. He was drunk and high and everything else which is why he broke into the ‘wrong’ house. By the grace of God, he left his gun in his car. It’s a huge blessing we are alive. Another blessing was that in all of the commotion, my kids didn’t wake up. @ThomasWic

They would say how friendly and kind people were with one breath, then with the other complain that it was conservative. They would say they working to change that. In my home town a hotel owner who lost an establishment previously to fire told all his staff of his hotel he could not wait to go away for the weekend. On the weekend he snuck into the basement of his hotel and set a fire in the furnace room. Got back to his car in the alley and realized he lost his keys. looked in basement but could not get to them due to fire. Left his car in alley tried to break in his home but his wife called the cops.

@EmmaP When we moved to Nashville from Oklahoma in 1977, it was a somewhat sleepy town, quietly conservative; traffic was no issue, Music Row was well established.The liberals changed all that decades ago. The state is solid red. But Memphis and Nashville are blue. Yes, the natives are very nice. Genuinely nice. It's the "transplants" from CA and other places that cause the problems. @ThomasWic Please stay safe. As for your family, I did not know until my parents died a few years ago how common these sibling freak outs were. My oldest brother and I spent a great deal of quality time with our parents at the end, and any issues I had with them I resolved. So did he. We stayed sane after they died whereas the other two have gone into denial mode. They are both bitter and angry and they refuse to talk to us. I don't miss my bitter siblings, but I still grieve for my parents.

@ThomasWic A month straight being harassed by an illegal from Marseilles. Kicking him down my 18 steps while cursing his ancestors in Old French didn't sway him. @Ama That's exactly what the guy did in my case.I was just thinking about it today:He could go after anyone on the street, but I can't warn them, and the cops don't care.Nobody cares.The more isolated I become, the more I care. I don't understand indifference.

@ThomasWic It's ironic we face the same issue. How many more of us? This same asshole has harassed numerous people in town. Ran a combat veteran with stage 4 cancer off his job and out of his home. Goldilocks happens to be sleeping with the sister of the owner of my home and believes he's entitled to be my guest. I'm chainlocking my gate. Our cops are useless on the more liberal west side. I don't currently have arms @Ms_Kux Long story but going through some legal hell and must behave.

@Ms_Kux @ThomasWic Although numeorus reports went to ICE and DHS called me yesterday unexpectedly. I have a picture of his passport and told them I WILL distribute it among my military friends if they don't drag his predator ass out of the church giving him sanctuary. They didn't tell me not to.

@Ama @Ms_Kux Leftism.I always go back to my cousin Filbert, a member of the US Marshals Special Operations Group.He was told that he had to take early retirement, and he refused. He was the point man when they broke down doors. He didn't want anyone else to risk their lives.He died of a heart attack, on the job, at the age of 49.Here he is in 1968 with my brother Pat.

I'm a peasant renter not allowed however due to all the anxiety I think I need to qualify another Rottweiler as a "therapy dog". I had one mixed with Akita years ago. She was a baby for me but even made the PD take steps back. Now what would that Home Alone kid do? Rig up some tricky electronic device that Rottie growls when the first step is hit? @WarriorPoet @ThomasWic Awwww. The same happened to my Seradawg. She had massive anxiety when I rescued her. I walked the streets of Austin pregnant doing mission work to the veterans with zero problems as she relearned freedom. One day a much larger rottweiler off leash went for her throat. All was ok but she was never the same and hated anyone not me. And Yippee McFadden, a little chihuahua we met on the border. She was in LOVE with him 😆

@WarriorPoet @ThomasWic Usually a dog and one warning shot is enough. When I lived on the BLM I had a nice shotgun that deterred most with any sense. One night a sucker decided to press his luck and out of nowhere a cougar pounced knocking him to the ground. Word got around and no one bothered me after that 😁

@Ama I think maybe you misunderstood. He spent four years in an apartment he was not supposed to be in because I kept him there against the apartment complex rules. I refuse to live undefended. @WarriorPoet @ThomasWic I do. It was similar for us for the first year as we moved between 3 apts before relocating to Colorado where she could chase the coyotes. I had a neighbor threaten to shoot her at the first complex and guess who got evicted? He did. My landlord understood I was a mother alone defending from the transients that ran amuck in those days too. Dubya era.

@WarriorPoet I fully agree. I fall in both categories having been injured for not standing down to men much bigger than me but assassin mode kicks in because I'm not afraid to die. Somehow I always survive. I look to my favorite WW2 heroine Violette Szabo for inspiration. She was the exact size as me and made it all the way to the end of brutal torture, interrogation, starvation, working mens labor in winter until they finally executed her. He laughed at me and said he's moved in with the new owner of my home. Returned and manager arrived to tell me property was sold to insane sister of owner who is divorcing her husband to marry Goldi. And now he gets his citizenship. He says he knows it was me who called ICE so he looks forward to me being his tenant. I don't even know what to do...processing
