///infosec.exchange Downtime Alert///Plan for the server to be down from 8am eastern to noon eastern - depends on how fast the tubes are tomorrow. I will be moving infosec.exchange to a new server, as well as moving off of Wasabi (which seemed like a great idea at the time), and applying the glitch social extensions. The new server will not have an IPv6 address. There may be some DNS propagation delays too, but will try to mitigate that.

@jerry did you put in a CM ticket for this and get all the appropriate approvals? What's your backout plan? 😛

@mistaken113 on the plus side, the CM ticket was approved remarkably fast. On the minus side, I discovered a serious separation of duties issue in my CM process 😂

@mistaken113 and my backout plan is to set DNS back to what it was. But that could be a mess for a while, with DNS propagating unevenly

@jerry No worries, the level of management that approved it has no idea what separation of duties even means. They just clicked the button.

Just did some quick math - at the current transfer rate, it'll take 43 days to complete. I believe I will let it do what it can overnight and proceed with the migration, which will result in some media being missing from the page for, well, 43 days. I can't leave it like this, though.

@jerry Just a gentle reminder: US time zone designations are a bit difficult for us foreigners 🤔

@jerryI generally setup a reverse proxy on both servers. Whichever is The One will receive direct traffic from clients with up-to-date DNS info and proxied traffic from the other server, until all DNS caches are up-to-date.@mistaken113
