Why did no one tell me that radar sensors are not only much more reliable at detecting motion than PIR sensors (I knew that much), but by now they are also much cheaper?!

@fribbledom idk about proper radar but ultrasonic sensors are great for this stuff if your required range is at most a few ft.

@mngrifThe RCWL-0516 seem to work fantastically within a 180 degree window and a range of up to 15ft. Also they're like 50 cents a pop.

@chaomodus I could probably find a cheaper source, but where I get them they're like ~$1.50. The RCWL-0515 radar sensors are $0.50 a pop.

@fribbledom I wonder what the drawbacks are of the Doppler module. You'd think it would be more popular.

@Shitlord I guess they're a bit harder to fine-tune / calibrate and they're not only triggering on line of sight, but also through thin walls. Which can be a good or a bad thing, depending on what you're trying to do.

@chaomodusCorrect, pretty much a direct replacement for PIR sensors, except they don't require a direct line of sight.

@fribbledom Nowadays, you don't need to purchase the whole submarine along with one!
