       So - reports are coming in that the fascist dick-heads behind Gab are turning to Mastodon. And some progressives are using this as evidence that the idea of the Fediverse is inherehently flawed. What is the community response to this? Is there some kind of collective action? Is there something like a shared block-list of fascist instances?

       @torgo we started blocking them weeks before they officially joined.We already knew they were coming.The number is inflated, because it's like all existing accounts, dormant and suspended (including suspended bots and spammers etc).Gab in particular is already blocked on Mastodon.social (where you are).And apps like Tusky have already blocked them too.

       @torgo is email flawed because fascists can send you emails? Is the web flawed because fascists can make web pages? Etc.Mastodon is software you can use to run a social media network. Anyone can use it. And anyone using it can block others using it or other interactive services.

       @pandora_parrot hey - you are preaching to the converted with me. :) However, relating to email, email providers also do keep block-lists of well-known sources of spam and abuse. I do think the community needs that kind of collective action to actively keep fascists and trolls at bay. Otherwise the fediverse could get a bad reputation with people.
