Schizophrenic with THREE CHILDREN takes two days to commit suicide by cop in Baltimore. His friend said he wouldn't take his medication because of the side effects AND THE STIGMA.I blame today's psychiatrists. They're getting crazier than their patients.Time to reopen state and federal mental hospitals and commit people for life.https://www.liveleak.com/view?t=sizex_1567084851

@ThomasWic We had my brother all but committed for life until he managed to convince some doctor that he was stable. What confuses me is in CA they're not supposed to release if there is not a stable environment they are released to. He has no one to be released to but he was allowed to walk out the door.Privacy laws prevent you from getting any information to challenge the decisions. No matter where you turn, the doors are shut. There is much unwinding to be done to fix this system.

@Elaines2cents @ThomasWic Again Elaine, I send you so much love for how you support your parents in such a difficult environment. I wish the state would assist you but have seen so much information to the contrary. Keep on being STRONG and know we ALL love you and send you tons of good vibes.

@Elaines2cents HUGE LOVE! Caring for my 84 and 91 year old parents in the same town, they are still self sufficient but not far from where your mom is. Many of us are coming to terms with these difficulties, so when I see someone ROCKING it after so much suffering I have to give a shout out and a HUG! ❤️

@ThomasWic I wonder if normal people go into psychiatry.

@Elaines2cents @ThomasWic My nephew is back out after a week. He appeared "better" before a jude after being force-fed medication in hospital but now that he is out he is not taking his medication. No stable environment or oversight. The cycle continues.

@ThomasWic Fixing this mental health mess is going to take a LOT. First thing that needs to be done is fix the schools, then universities (not necessarily in that order) so we can get SANE mental health professionals. That's going to take 2 decades at least. In the meanwhile, the mental health facilities, laws, and infrastructure can be fixed, but before all that happens the leftists need to be eradicated permanently to keep their wrenches out of the gears.Big, big task.

@Elaines2cents @ThomasWic I know someone who works at a county mental health facility and all she can see is how they are helpless victims and need all our help and understanding as if they were infants. She won’t tolerate hearing they need safe institutions where they can get help or not but not hurt others. She has the old Bedlam view of institutions and can see no in between. Even in the events that happen that are in the news she says don’t judge they need our help!! What about the victims??

@Kat @ThomasWic It is people like her that do the most damage to those they are supposedly 'helping'.Allowing people who should be institutionalize to roam the streets in full crazy mode is certainly not doing a damn thing to 'help' the crazed, their families or anyone else they come in contact with.Has she ever once offered a resolution that could ever work or is she one that ties a few coats around light poles in the winter and goes home feeling good about herself?

@ThomasWic My nephew has bipolar issues and cannot take one of the medicines available for treatment of the condition. The medicine makes him extremely violent. He has no insurance so is dependent upon county services. The only medicine available through the local health department is the one that makes him violent. So they prescribe & he does not take.He tries to get help, but the system does not allow for help for him.

@Elaines2cents @ThomasWic as she’s an ‘in-law’ of sorts I try not to engage since the first time I did and made disruptions that could get us aced out of gatherings. 😣

@ThomasWic my daughter is a psychiatric nurse. She was telling me the other night that 2 % of the population in the US has diagnosed "Mental illness". (that's like 6,000,000+) and more importantly 2% of those diagnosed(120,000+) are "Batshit Crazy" meaning that totally medicated they still converse openly with their demons.

@Kat @Elaines2cents @ThomasWic Ahh, a liberal do-gooder. They don't care that they enable bad things so long as they feel good while doing it.

@Elaines2cents @HockeyMom @ThomasWic some find that phase enjoyable (while it is miserable for others around them). Medications. their side effects. and the reasons folks decide to quit taking them are multifaceted. It ALL has to be addressed. @HockeyMom @ThomasWic - 2/2

@Elaines2centsOne of the biggest complaints I have heard from mental patients is they don't like the way their medicine makes them feel. Although it may make them cope better and deal with other folks, evidently a lot of meds fail at making them feel better. Many meds have physical side effects such as dry mouth and weight gain. Some medications you can't take and enjoy your alcohol or pot. If you are bipolar and in a manic phase - 1/2

@prchrskd @HockeyMom @ThomasWic My brother's alters told him he didn't need to take his meds. They all have a reason.
