@angristan OH, SO THAT'S ENABLED WITH THE SIM CARD, that's why I haven't been able to trigger the mandatory sound thing when I tried it in Japan :blobuwu:

@angristan Hmm, not sure if that is really SIM that controls it... My friend's iPhone XS (bought from Canada, North America edition) was able to suppress the camera sound despite being on KT SIM. Maybe the story is different if you are Android.

@angristan @revi my understanding is it's the phone that guesses which country it's in and changes some features accordingly, so that they can sell the same model in multiple countries and follow the laws in each.It took me a while to work out, when in India the "press two times on power to open camera thing" was suddenly not working.
