Seems all the state (dunno about fed) psych hospitals in my state were converted to senior housing, condos, apartments and many other uses after rotting away for decades.

@ThomasWic @PilgrimsLanded @paul_schmehl I keep hearing that defunding was responsible for de-institutionalization. Does this mean changes in appropriations only, but no express changes in the laws were made by Congress? Now that Trump seems to be signaling a move back in this direction, I'm wondering much he might deal with this as executive branch policy changes under existing laws.

@ThomasWic It has been a disaster with the dismanteling of psy hospitals and real reatment of the mentally ill -I've seen the events of 1980's to now-not pretty and quite disgusting for our fellow men & women in real mental trouble.
