If an enemy bombed us today, we'd fall apart. We couldn't handle another 9/11.It's so bizarre how this happened. We were a different culture in 2001. Now we're a nation of screeching children. My guess is that this is a period of transition, but it sure is disgusting to me.I'm not sympathetic to panic at all. My mother and sister were on a Lufthansa airliner over the North Pole when the pilot asked everyone to listen carefully.

They'd gotten a bomb threat for that specific aircraft, so they needed to search, and they needed everyone to stay calm.People immediately got up and began running through the aircraft, screaming, "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!"Those people are lucky I wasn't there. The crew searched the plane and found nothing. But how would hysteria have helped if there HAD been a bomb?

In the movie Force 10 From Navarone, Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford are on a mission to destroy a dam. They're supposed to plant a bomb, but they end up being so late that they have only five minutes. So they set the bomb for five minutes and then stroll away, talking about how nice it would've been to live. They shake hands, telling each other that it was a pleasure to work together. The bomb goes off...and you have to see the movie for yourself to find out what happens.

@ThomasWic You know that one part in every movie involving a disaster and a government entity where there's the following exchange?:"We have to tell the People!" "We can't tell the people, we'll cause a panic!"I never liked that. It's probably correct in the sense that most fuckwits will lose their shit and start rioting, but that just mean non-hysterical people have to suffer for their hypothetical stupidity.

@Kambeii There's a brilliant Simpsons episode where they get the news that a nuke is on the way, and the bomb shelter will hold everyone except a single person. So Homer gives up his place and goes out to sit on a hill to wait for the nuke. Then his neighbor appears next to him so he won't be alone. Then another person and another and another.Soon the whole town is there, waiting to die together. But the nuke never arrives. It was a false alarm.

@ThomasWic Period of transition, well said Thomas. I fear that my grandchildren will come to a realization (TOO LATE) that the leftist crap we're seeing today isn't the USA their parents and grandparents talked about. We have a generation behind us that don't know that sacrifice and hard work and a good government makes a family and thus a countey excel. This is why this is the greatest country in the world. Democracys (historically) have a lifespan of 200 yrs. We may just be at the end.

@ThomasWic I was on a scary flight to Halifax one year to play a gig. The turbulence was crazy but I was not bothered because they seem to know how to land these beasts. When the flight attendants started to panic I thought maybe this is it. I watched the others panic and thought well this should be quite the show if this is it.Surprise ending. Too damned lazy to put any effort into what they are whining for.

@ThomasWic It's a steady diet of "Fight or Flight" hand in hand with "Be still and know that I am God."They can only drown out the "Be still" part if we allow it. My personal instances of the panic response have dropped to near zero finally. Not just about politics and current events, but personally as well. It's not that I'm so well sorted out, but pointing and laughing is much more enjoyable than wailing and shrieking.

No stewards, no stewardesses ..air marshalls stared at us, patrolled aisles. 1 hour prior to return landing Mpls, had to put down all papers, books, have empty laps, show hands. πŸ™ Safe. @ThomasWic My late Father was a physicist for the old Atomic Energy Commission (on every bomb test from '52 on). In the mid 1960's I asked him if we should dig a bomb shelter in the back yard (we lived in a Boston suburb). He said no because we would all be vaporized instantly. I ask him what we will do. He said we would all go out in the driveway and sit in lawn chairs and watch. He would have a martini and us kids could have all the ice cream we wanted. Lots more fun than digging a hole.

@ThomasWic Don’t you think this is a planned objective? That we are scattered? Separated? We cannot trust the media to tell the truth. We cannot trust FBI DOJ except Barr, and only President Trump and Admin in rest of Gov. Dangerous times. We need to be guarded, I guess, and really pay attention. I also think the stock market drop was orchestrated. We have the best economy right now & economic gurus are using outdated parameters, talking heads pound it into the ground to scare people.

@ThomasWic I think, or would like to think, that the calmer more rational people would simply beat the snot out of the whiners to stop the sky is falling wailing and get to business to address the problem. It would be calm down and meet the challenges, or the whiners get sent first to the firing lines to get them out of the system. A good way to cull the herd.

@Mcmoore73 I remember being very aware as a child that there was a nuclear threat hanging over our heads at all times. Movies and TV shows depicting life after a nuclear war always piqued my interest. I must have expressed my anxiety to my mother because I remember her telling me about apparitions at Fatima and what the children saw in the vision of hell. She told me to pray the rosary when I felt afraid, and she told me about this:https://www.tfp.org/the-amazing-story-of-the-hiroshima-eight/@MrHobbit @ThomasWic @Kambeii

@RangerJohn Your father sounds like a great man. And what a message of comfort to his children. Changed the whole dynamic with that idea, didn't he??@ThomasWic

@ThomasWic Can’t say I identify with that. My EOTW fantasies tend to revolve around survival.
