@isolategab The thing that I don't get about TERFs is... How do they even exist?Like, I get that Alex is just a fascist and isn't sincere in his 'feminism', but how do real feminists get duped? @NHonigdachs @isolategab literally it stands for Trans-Exclusionary Radical FeministsThe name is kind of a misnomer because they aren't radical, nor are they feminists, but it generally refers to hatred of trans people, and trans women in particular, by someone who claims to be a feminist and a leftist. They do not accept trans women as women, they misgender trans people, spread the same myths about trans people that evangelicals spread in the US, and they do mean-spirited things, like claim to be a man on Friday to criticize the idea that gender identity can be different from sex or that it can be fluid or non-binaryThey also call sex work prostitution, and call sex workers hookersIt's really weird when you come at it from the left, but when you realize they're fascists, the ideology makes sense

@steven @isolategab largely the same way anyone else does, we suspect: ignorance of trans people's realities, plus propagandization with emotionally appealing scare stories by people with an agenda those stories help advance
