@ppng Am pointing out that it is happening so we are aware to counter it. And being clear that far from being a "free speech haven" that the service is being actively pushed by the worst alt-right figures and as the reporting put it, features " antisemitic, misogynist or racist content, and has been used to promote terrorism." That's not "signal boosting" that's being clear to the Fediverse what Gab is about.

Didn't say I was happy with them being racist, homophobic, etc. That is very different than saying I had no problem with the content of what they say. Actually this is the best way to counter that content. isolate it, and then engage with those holding it to change.

@ppng I didn't "give them a platform." Mastodon is AGPL, they have that. So the way to counter that is to isolate them into an ever shrinking silo, and encourage those inside to leave.

@isolategab The way to counter nazis is to deplatform them. But, you're not doing that. Instead, you're doing the opposite. Chatting with them in DMs and signal boosting their call for followers.

@isolategab @ppng Personally, I wouldn't waste my breath on those scumbags. They certainly wouldn't grant you the same courtesy if they were in charge.But knowledge strengthens the arm, so the more we know about such far right platforms, the better we can coordinate how we de-platform and isolate them. Or, better still, run them out of town.
