Like, Descartes doesn't hold up but he was at least ahead of his time in some ways, & he doesn't hold up *because* the good parts of his work have become common sense (as well as some of the bad parts). Likewise Aristotle. But Searle just says bullshit that doesn't hold up at all, and then calls you dumb for calling him out on his shit.

Hegel got turned on his head but he had to be kinda interesting to be even worth that much. We only care about Plato because he's our (almost) only source on Socrates since the burning of the library of Alexandria and this is his only point of interest.
