Anyone with WQHD laptops running HiDPI on OpenBSD? Is it fiddly, or just works (with appropriate initial config)? What's your recommendation? Go WQHD and HiDPI or stick with 1080p?FWIW, I use cwm(1) and spend lots (perhaps too much) time in xterm.BTW, native resolution is not an option. I already use glasses to see the screen. ~14 inches is probably too small for me and 2560x1440. The main reason I'm even considering WQHD would be the PPI benefits of HiDPI.

@akpoff It works fine for me, but I seriously only use two programs, xterm and browser. xterm was a simple matter of setting font size to 18 (or slightly larger) and for the browser I just changed the default zoom to 150%. Everything is about the same physical size as a 1080 screen but looks smoother.

@tedu That's pretty much my setup as well (xterm + browser). Is the overall improvement something you'd pay for again?

@akpoff every time, no question. I got the X1 3rd gen in 2015. I had a T430s 1440x900 previously. After a month of using the X1, went back to do some stuff on the T and everything was ugly. It's subtle when you start, okay, yeah, it's a little smoother I guess. But switching back I see pixels everywhere and they annoy me. The perils of luxury, you get used to it.I do believe it's easier to work with. Less antialiasing and less "let the brain fill in the gaps" stuff. Not scientific, but it feels like less strain to me.

@akpoff The matebook X has a 2160x1440 screen and I'm using Gnome on it because that keeps everything readable for me out of the box, except for old X applications like xcalc. I can't read very small fonts even with glasses...
