Sometime in the 90s, my grandmother had to move out of her house she lived in all her life (talking 1920s here) because some punk took advantage of her generosity and robbed her while she got him a drink. That was Baltimore 20+ years ago.Prior to that someone robbed the drug store she was working in and shot her boss. Thankfully the other guy involved wasn't trigger happy because she was scared and couldn't open the cash register. That's what people are defending now because Orange Man Bad.

A friend of my parents' boyfriend was shot in the head in the 70s. The woman was pregnant as she watched him die.

@umad80 my mother in 90s finally moved out of the city to Dundalk which truth be told isn't much better because as she walked to the corner store someone was shot and fell down a row home steps on top of her, I'd begged her for years to move & she finally did in the 90s

@JadedByPolitics @umad80 I grew up in Dundalk, you’re right, the problems of the inner city have spilled over into surrounding counties. I moved from Dundalk to the eastern shore in 1984...Dundalk was normal then.

@JadedByPolitics @Erin My street was elderly Basque. Now every house has multiple families, so there are 200 cars parked on the street. When I back out of my driveway, I always have to wait for cross traffic. It went from a quiet suburb to a busy metropolis full of lawless people who don't speak English.

@ThomasWic @Erin One thing I cannot bitch about Bmore is I met my husband at 14 we re-met at 20 married at 23 and have now been married 31 yrs, so for that I'm grateful. N VA was a great place to raise my kids and while some of their cousins had drug and police problems in Bmore one of mine went to college works for Dell & the other went in the Army and is now a commercial bug guy so no cops, no drugs, no drama
