@brandon Open reddit. Meh. Close reddit. Open new tab: https://www.reddit.com/Oh what the hell...

@ndegruchy It's funny, I used to be on reddit ALL the time, and now I just...lost interest for some reason. It was a bit before the redesign, maybe 6 months. I still to this day can't pinpoint what it was

@brandon My interest is waning too. I usually just lurk in a very specific set of subreddits because finding communities for those subjects is harder.

@ndegruchy That's what I was doing but it was hard to find linux and FOSS folk that weren't bikeshedding all the damn time (this was back a few years ago I think)

@brandon I just check the solus and thinkpad subs and some other small tech communities there. The /r/all page is getting bad.

@brandon Communities get insular. It's not a function of tooling, it's a function of people. Mastodon helps by federating, but it still needs work. That being said, I'm not in love with Reddit, just some of the communities because I wouldn't have the time, nor energy to keep on top of some of those things.

@ndegruchy I hear you, it's hard to stay current, especially when so much of your time has to be spent on learning rather than doing that you don't have time to DO
