@sourdough49er there is none. almost every post is public. there are three main scope settings, private sends to the recipients, followers only sends to only your followers and the recipients, and public sends to the entire network. this is just one node of a larger network, the fediverse has 'taken off' a long time ago.

But if I want to collapse them, I have to scroll all the way to the fucking top and hit the "collapse" text that is not immediately, limbically apparent as something you can click on. I would make the thread-collapse button into an icon, and I'd figure out a way to have it available no matter where in the thread you are. Maybe some kind of file-folder style tag on the border of the thing, that scrolls with you? Because, as it stands, you open a thread, it takes effort to close it again. That's if it's a new thread, and you can just hit home and go to the top. If it's down a ways, you're fucked.Also, open threads need to background shit like other threads and single replies. It's just a stream of local posts to make it easy for local users to see eachother and reply to posts they find to be a good starting point for conversation.You came from gab, right? We had someone who did last year and tried to go with control over the timeline, it didn't work out. The one big difference between gab and spc that newcomers need to understand is that this site is meant for socialization, not competition. That's why it has club in the name.The expectation is that users will try to interject into conversations they find interesting and thus everyone will have a good time with it, not play king of the hill.Many users will instead go mainly for the personal timeline after a while over which they do have control of, as it shows only the people you follow, and switch to public when not much is going on in their personal one

@sourdough49er @mono It's a potential leak problem due to the nature of how decentralisation works. It only works as long as everyone agrees to abide by it as a setting. Anything you post to the timeline should be assumed that it could be made public. We told mastodon that it would be a problem but they still implemented it, and pleroma followed afterwards to be compatible I assume. I should also note that it only works using AP. GNU Social instances like loadaverage reject the extra features since it isn't recognised. Unfortunately, it would seem that the only disclaimer on there is "This post will be visible to all the mentioned users."

@Pthagnar Okay, even if you keep the other button ticked that I mentioned, it does work automatically but you have to be at the very top of the page. You don't need to click the update button on the settings you were trying if you are at the top of the page.

@sourdough49er I think there are already emojis. If you type in certain phrases for it. I don't have a list for those though. You can also change the type of text you use under "Plain text" at the bottom of your posts. This allows you to do more like make bold letters. I usually stick with plain text so I'm not too familiar with the features. But you can use HTML, Markdown and BBCode when writing posts.

There has been an influx of users from gab so it was the safest bet, but by no means was there certainty. By extension, I don't know everyone on the server at present.I don't argue that it tends to happen, bad faith actors always show up. The main difference with commercial services is that over here someone who wants to take over "territory" generally will be shown the door either by the established userbase, or, if needed, the administration, since decentralized nature means you aren't denying them access to the network, simply telling them to find another server that is more to their taste.That last bit is the immunizing factor here, if you don't like a server too much, it's much easier to just move over to another that you like more than to try to take over. It's why I mentioned the attempt last year, an user tried to do exactly that and after a while he got kicked out and moved to another server until he just alienated everyone and left the network.As for the wider fediverse, we've had a turf war since gargron brought his hosts of maladjusted crazies over in 2016, but the only thing they've managed to do is somewhat lower the overall quality of the network, servers themselves remain mostly unfazed, all they can do is complain and block from their end. At a network level it's just impossible to fully take over, even if you modify the software to allow it, all you manage is to wall yourself in while everyone else carries on with their day outside your little fort.

It might be cool, from a privacy standpoint, to make it so that - out of Alice, Bob, and Charlie, you can prevent any one of them from appearing in your lists. This does mean that, like, if you elect to hide follower Bob, he wouldn't be able to show anyone that he follows you, but that doesn't seem like too big a deal. I don't think anyone really gives that much of a fuck about proving that some rando follows them?
