Does anyone else running Ubuntu MATE or Xubuntu 19.04 find their WIFI randomly cutting out?

@ChrisWere I had this just a few days ago. On manjaro as well as Fedora. On debian buster wifi didn't work at all but after a fix it was flawless.MAYBEE applying that fix helps on other distros, but I'll stay at debian. Here a link:https://www.intrawebsolns.com/how-to-fix-cant-connect-to-wifi-in-debian-10-buster/

@syme I think that's a different bug. My WIFI worked fine on Manjaro (my printer didn't though).

@ChrisWere Do you know if it happens on vanilla Ubuntu running Gnome?

@jmwright I don't remember it happening, but Gnome is too resource intensive for my laptop.

@ChrisWere random cut offs might be related to WiFi chip and firmware versions used.

@ChrisWereI know I've become an old and grumpy user when it's mid 2019 and both my production machines are running #linuxMint 18.3 I installed as Mint 18 sometime in mid 2016, and I have no immediate plans to upgrade 🤷‍♂️Everything works. Why should I bother? + #Flatpak

@ChrisWere the wifi being randomly cut off in my case was caused by the powersaving feature of network manager I added a conf.d file to disable powersaving and I have not had any problems since

@eladhen That's about as stable a workflow as you can get. Sounds like a keeper.

@ChrisWere Yep. Don't think anything will move me from this before EOL for 16.04. Perhaps Mint 19.3. From 18.3 and 17.3 I already know that the point threes tend to be really sweet.

@ChrisWere yeah... intel is known to have issues with their wifi drivers (on linux?). Unfortunately there is not much you can do as it is non-free :( a friend of mine has disconnect issues when trying to use eduroam. Every other wifi network he tried so far works. I myself cannot create a hotspot with my intel wifi chip...

@Jasper_Ben Then it's a curious choice of a Linux laptop company to use.

@ChrisWere unfortunately there aren't any real alternatives as far as I know. The newest wifi chips with free drivers I know are from 2009.

Good news. I managed to find a fix, thanks to the good folks in the community forums.
