I wanted to see myself hit 1k followers...for the hell of it, but it seems that is but a pipe dream. I love ya'll Fosstodon peeps but I'll probably be moving to a new instance, barring a change in administration. I don't accept this kind of behaviour.Inb4: but he hasn't even made a statement yetIt's not hard to guess what he'll argue. Unless he decides to step away from administration, I gather Fosstodon will stagnate and then fall. The damage has been done.

@brandon If you change instances, I'll definitely give your new account a follow :)That said, I really hope you *don't* leave. Kev is just one (of six) mods here—he already *has* stepped back from moderation quite a bit from the days when it was just him and MikePlus, the best way to keep fosstodon a welcoming, inclusive place is for people who care about that to *stay*, and to help keep everyone else focused.I hope you stick around—you've been a core part of the community :D

@DistroJunkie As you can see I haven't made the move yet, but I AM shopping around. My issue is that he's an admin and therefore a representative of our community and saying such things encourages worse opinions to surface. I mean look at some of the responses that his post elicited. Calling for another war to murder marginalized folk asking for some validity in the world.

@brandonYou can't hold @kev responsible for what other people post. Just like we can't hold the entire marginalised trans community responsible for one calling Kev a "cunt" and me a "cuck", whatever that is. Let's all just tap the brake, settle down, talk about the cool stuff we're doing and encourage eachother along the way.Oh, and don't move on. Just block the trolls.😃

@DistroJunkie As a representative of Fosstodon, yes you can. Fosstodon is meant to be safe for marginalized folk to hang out, and that can't happen if the one of the figureheads of Fosstodon is calling those folk snowflakes and indirectly claiming that their gripes are invalid.

@brandon @DistroJunkie fosstodon's only goal is to be an instance targeted toward foss advocates. @kev is free to have his opinions, separate from moderation. what youre saying is you want a locked-down experience provided by a paranoid admin who preemptively blocks everyone for "associating with nazis"? i wouldnt want that, but thats just about every admin that's more restrictive than kev, save for a select few

@brandon @DistroJunkie @kev i dont like all of fosstodon's policies (which is fine, i dont have an account there) but it definitely wont "stagnate and fall" as quickly as you predict, at least not for the reasons you state. as long as the admins show continued interest in the service (and they should, its one of the better mastodon instances and ive found some cool people from it) it'll stay aroundi'm trans and while i dont fully agree with kev's wording, i do with his general idea. in *many* cases, *not all*, there are concern trolls online living under the bridge, pretending to be offended on behalf of other people. and usually, those other people (like me) are too busy giving a shit about making it through life, to be bothered by being called a tranny or whatever insults or opinions people throw at us

@brandon @DistroJunkie @kev but if youre that set against fosstodon, at least choose an instance that hits middle ground rather than blocking every god damned instance for breathing the wrong way. but i discourage you from picking an instance solely based off how much you agree with the admin. there have been people on my instance (anime.website) with which i personally disagree but i have continued to give them a platform for free, since they follow my rules
