@fedilab browsers are general purpose tools for accessing the internet, fedilab is a tool focused on accessing a specific type of service (that being fediverse instances). There's a big difference.

@ClipseyThe app allows to access several social networks Mastodon, Pleroma, GNU, Peertube, Friendica that all are declined in several instances. And you want to block the app because some specific instances could use it?

@Clipsey i blocked gab too, but i still think is a job for instances and not for tool to block such things..or do you want to forbid tor, cause you can seed porn over the network?@fedilab

@rick @fedilab I believe that we all need to take a stand against fascism, not only instances but also developers of the apps that access the fediverse.By being a neutral party you are just aiding the fascist.

@fedilab And even then, your app is a small operation compared to a web browser. It's impossible to take a stand against a large corporation like Mozilla and Google. But you're an individual and you've chosen to associate with them.

@rick @fedilab It doesn't solve it, but it makes life a whole lot harder for fascists.If a gab fork happens then it's their problem at that point that they get kicked off the app store/play store?In the end the developer of Fedilab decided to associate with Gab.

@Clipsey @fedilab i know.. its tricky.. but for me its kinda the same thing with the "vorratsdatenspeicherung" and the whole internet censoring. its like some politicans say "Ahh we must forbit encrypt cause terrorists can use it too".. nope thats wrong.. if you forbit it terrorist still use good encryption and everyone else have to use plaintext...if you block one thing from a tool.. its the first step to block other things..like i said.. every user/instance should block them.. but i still belive.. its not in the judgement of specific tools ^^vand i support @fedilab by his decision ^^

@Clipsey I know this article. My choice to remove the block feature was related to the lack of replies from Google Play concerning a potential ban. If the app risks nothing, my personal opinion doesn't matter. Don't expect from my dev role to start being biased with personal feelings. If I started to ban from the app instances that I personally muted with my account, there will be more than one having a login block (though it would be useless) . @rick

And if they don't respect them, I will hard-code their username inside the application for a login block? @ClipseyNo they claim to do it. My only goal is to offer every tools so that everyone can remain in a safe place with friends. We are at the beginning of a huge change, and instance blocks won't help. But, I do know that the Fediverse offers everything for that. @rick

@Clipsey @fedilab tbh i think one of the biggest problem is that the whole gab theme is way to hyped on some instance.. this means -> big advertisment for them.. they are laughing their asses of if they see us arguing like little chickens over them.. thats just what they want.block them, ignore them, give them no room/advertisement.. thats the best thing you can to with fascists
