Still mad at people acting like the removal of Native Culture isn't their fault.Did you know that my two aunts were both forcibly sterilized when they were babies because they were First Nations and born before the public found out the Bureau of Indian Affairs was sterilizing fucking babies? The my mom, being the youngest, was the only one who was able to have kids?BECAUSE THAT'S A FUCKING THING THAT HAPPENED.

@magicalmilly that's fucked up, but I don't know how that's the fault of anyone who wasn't alive when that was happening. Should I carry the weight of the Vietnam war atrocities just because I'm a descendant of people who were involved at some capacity?

@feld @magicalmilly everyone who benefits has a responsibility to try to make it right. I can think of quite a few people in North America who don’t benefit from it too. Maybe you should listen to them rather than make asinine excuses for why you don’t share any responsibility for the ongoing harm that you’re benefiting from.

@feld @magicalmilly it's not really about faulting the people who are alive now, but about being aware of the despicable actions of the BIA in the past. we must be aware of these actions so that we can ensure they never happen again in the future.we live in a time where atrocities are happening left and right. the BIA has always been a crooked institution, they could easily start doing atrocities again.collectively, these atrocities are *all* of our fault (the BIA sterilizations of the past, the stuff ICE has been doing since it's founding in 2001, all of the wars), because too many of us lack the courage to call the people doing them on their shit.
