Open question for #System76 Oryx Pro owners. Do you have light bleed on your display, coming from the upper corners? I want to know if this is a common issue or just an isolated issue with my machine before I go casting any judgment. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

@killyourfm Haven't seen that happen on the one here.

@killyourfm Not uncommon. I bought an Oryx Pro a couple years ago and decided within 24 hours of receiving the laptop to return it. Light bleed was terrible. When I opened a support ticket with #System76 (with the picture below) I was told it was "a little worse than normal" to which I was like: ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿ˜  Boxed it up and sent it back. Which cost me $234 in non-refunded and return shipping, but that's better than $2500 for a laptop with an unusable display. Bought a Lenovo P50, zero light bleed.

@sean oooof, thanks for your input Sean. Mine's not THAT bad but it is terribly noticeable in any darkish movie scenes or game environments.

@killyourfm Are you still within 30 days of purchase? System76 has a no-questions-asked 30-day return policy. YMMV but I refuse to drop coin like that on a laptop with any kind of defect. You could try an exchange but you you may end up getting something the same or worse.I think the problem is the Oryx display frame is not very stiff and there isn't much backing it (just that thin aluminum plate). So it flexes/twists a bit when you open and close it, creating gaps in the light seal beneath.

@sean This feels like the EXACT cause of the light bleed. I have other backlit LED laptops with no light bleed -- but they're also built like bricks :D

@killyourfm So even if you can live with the light bleed today, just keep in mind that unless you are exceedingly careful when opening the display (so as not to twist it) that light bleed may very well get worse over the life of the laptop. Also, you should be careful not to set anything on top of the laptop. That aluminum plate dents easily (mine came from the factory with a slight dent in the middle that AFAICT likely happened when they were boxing it up).

@killyourfm - Not that I've noticed, but I haven't looked for it either.
