@dansup @pixelfed ha you're an incubator for #activitupub projects. Start them up and send them out into the world on their own.How do you plan on managing development of #pixelfed and this new project and all of your future ideas? Do you think you'll hand over management to an org or have an approach like lain's where you still work on it but accept most contributions.

@dansup @0x1C3B00DA I feel like the thing that made Tumblr tumblr was less of the UX and more of the "killer hashtag search"... people generally sub to hashtags and communities over people and cross instance hashtag search is something that activityPub has not handled well :)

I've always figured we could have "search relays" that turn into supernodes that cache messages with hashtags or similarbut the whole cross-instance search is always going to be an adventure

@kaniini @0x1C3B00DA @dansup @macgirvin this might be one of those things I'm always talking about with "web of trust"... If I trust my sister instances, maybe we can all opt-into the search node? Somebody from Gab opening an account on my instance and searching is the same amount of work in that case.Anyway... at the end of the day.. there are about 10 people with the ability/will to shape this stuff

@kaniini @0x1C3B00DA @dansup @macgirvin actually, I just figured.. if you ran a relay that captured all toots with hashtags? you could make search use that relays historyno hashtag = no search.. that'll solve half of the discovery problem?sounds like an MVP solution tho
