So Ive put this off long enoughI'm going to write about why I left sunbeam and the very serious, frankly very liberal minded set up of the entire coop, the lack of accessibility, the whiteness, and the obscene amount of emotional labour done to just, participate, as a disabled, black, autistic queer person in this space.Labour which was then responded to with over white supremacy and racism from another coop member and the head of the extinction rebellion account at the time.Really gross stuff, not leftist. Not progressive.Just Lib. All the way down. I'm going to talk about it, and its not going to be pretty.Saddle up. :weed: This isn't fun for me or enjoyable because ive already thought this through. This is a labour of love to any marginalized POC tempted to waste time on liberal minded people with socialist identities. An unpaid labour that i must intoxicate myself to get through. Viola

Now, I had a little convo with someone and im going to just transcribe the general points I made, I think they get the picture across pretty well about how from day 1, sunbeam was not set up with anarchist accessibility or functioning in mind, and since then has only degraded into a more or less plant theme lib coop more focused on growth for growths sake than actual solidarity.

I joined sunbeam about a year and a half ago.Looking down the list of instances as an enthusiastic plant lover who took an interest in sustainable infrastructure, who had experience working in a non profit co-op in person, when sunbeam advertised as a more or less eco socialist, I knew what that meant and that's why I joined, and I left when I realized that is not the case. And never really was.I took a liking right away, but it was really dead around here, so I went through some of my own images I'd collected from across the internet and started posting on the timeline. To share and make the server feel more, like it was supposed to.I didnt know I was autistic, I didn't know I was plural at the time. I wasnt yet anarchist in identity, but by that point my values and understanding of power dynamics and human relations had shifted significantly in that direction.And that's the main difference between me and a lib...

Especially if that person is disabled.I would know. Because I tried and I hit a wall.

I used to make web layouts for fun, like id type of a stylesheet, make the graphics, dig around for fonts, write up a script and voila. From about 13/15Unlike a lot of middle class white people, I was abused off of my computer, I was gatekept out of tech programs in school, I dealt with racism, and sexism and ableism and just general suspicion and criminalization for being remotely competent while simultaneously being regularly ill, due to my undiagnosed unaccomadate autism. I couldn't even get decent medical care from doctors, they literally would not pay attention. I got regularly and illegally failed by teachers who I was too stupid for the competency my work displayed. Racism and marginalization, they homogenize us in order to compartmentalize us and keep us "in place" in order to artificially reinforce the "meritocracy" for people who really work hard.I couldnt even get like someone to link me to the tech chat

To look at what Id worked on. I couldn't get like a single person to give me minutes.I installed like what... 5,6 different fucking programs, made what like 3,4 different fucking accounts, i was giving money every month.
