@FloatingGhost Did you just jump right into it or did you read some guides? Also why Sangatsu no Lion of all things?I tried doing TL and typesetting for a touhou doujin I really liked but then realized that typesetting is too exhausting for me and cleaning is a b*tch. And that was before I realized that the scans were poorly done so that the page on the other side was faintly seen through... Gave up halfway on a 30 pager.

@march I just opened photoshop and went into it blindand I picked this because I love the series and there's no commercial translation, only other fan-translations - it'd feel slightly redundant to do something that a professional has already done I guess. It's complex enough to be challenging and hence useful for learning, but not so complex that I struggle to figure out what's being saidyeah typesetting is painuppy-downy speech bubbles do not like having sidey-side text in them

@FloatingGhost I'd recommend reading some guides so you can avoid common pitfalls like japanglish and get some good font recommendations (mostly everyone uses WildWords on normal text, but for stylized text it differs).Just for fun, here's a sh*tty TL I saw of Wizard's Soul, which completely missed the meaning of 「痛くない?」. Unfortunately it is the only TL available...2018-07-26-110243_563x466_scrot…

@march japanglish is funI love that it gives me reason to use the word solidsnakeism for the inevitable iffy translation that comes from the common patterna: 〇〇xyz〇〇b:「xyz」?=> a: yada go to the xyz?b: the xyz? and I need more reasons to use that word

@bread @FloatingGhost I don't have the original so I'm just guessing he said that. If he did, then 痛い here is like 目が痛い or like how it's used in 痛車 (those cars with anime stickers all over them). She's dressed in bright clashing colors and she did her outfit "too much", hurting your eyes.So I guess... "Isn't that too much?"

@FloatingGhost My favorite japanglish is when someone feels the need to translate bubble by bubble instead of the actual sentence. So you get to read some weird sentence ordering that is really out of place in English
