Any hobby purists can be irritating, but the type of record player enthusiasts who Have To Be Right On The Internet are high up on the list of The Worst. "It's going to destroy your vinyl!!11!" Seriously, have you never had a piece of physical media fail on you before? Had a scratched CD that skipped tracks, but you kept it anyway? Loved a book so much pages fell out? Have none of you joyless fucks listened to a cassette until the tape snapped or the oxide flaked off?

@erinbee I recommended a turntable once online and this dude crawled out of the woodwork to tell me that it's wrong and terrible and somehow didn't recommend a replacement

@BestGirlGrace Is there a name for that subset of belligerent mansplainer who is enraged but acts like giving an actual explanation is beneath him (to hide that he has no explanation)? Because there needs to be.

@BestGirlGrace @erinbee note that they use viglink and trackers to monetize shit and a lot of the posters are barely-disguised nazis

@BestGirlGrace Jesus ChristI thought these people were loopy for thinking that cds which are digitally identical would sound different, they apply that to fucking copy routines

@a_breakin_glass @BestGirlGrace I think it could have issues if the cd is damaged or manufactured poorly (skips, bad track indexing in the table of contents, swapped left and right channels if someone messed with something), but if they’re bit identical they should sound the same if they’re both in the same conditionSorry, it’s been literal years since I did any recording or mixing and I was never a pro ;^_^
