(1) Everybody talks about terrorism. And, I dare say, most have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.I think it is due, for the most part, to an unhappy choice of words which at the time seemed like a good synthesis: "War on Terror."I get why they were chosen:“We'll fight until we eradicate terrorism as a methodology.”Too long for the press and your average yahoo.I’m OK with that.

(2) The problem is that, in war, it helps to identify the enemy. It also helps to identify the friendlies, lest we shoot each other. That’s why some primitive societies resorted to funny paintings, tattoos, piercing, circumcision or some such kind of way to recognize "ours" over "theirs."Heck, some still do.That’s why we wear distinctive uniforms and why the Geneva Conventions have something to say about those who do not.

(3) But in our current predicament, what was designed to be a political objective has come down into our lexicon with serious consequences.Despite the absurd cackling one hears every day, Terrorism is not an ideology.Nor is it a country or an organized force. It is a tactic. It’s not the enemy, either. It is merely a weapon the enemy uses to produce a result. We’ll get to it later.Alas, nobody has a copyright on terrorism.

(4) Many use similar tactics for different purposes:The abusive husband, the disgruntled employee, the totalitarian state and the psychotic killer, to name a few. They all use terror to control their victims. And so, as we concentrate on the tactic, the nature of the enemy becomes more & more vague, and the enemy within twists facts to confuse the narrative and blur the edges. Thus, Ft. Hood becomes "workplace violence."https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/obamas-disturbing-pattern-of-playing-down-islamic-terror/2015/07/20/1181bcbc-2ee3-11e5-8353-1215475949f4_story.html?utm_term=.e18d4de17bf7

(5) And a woman loosing her mind and ramming her SUV on a sidewalk in Phoenix becomes "an act of terror."People become anesthetized.Another ancient tactic is the invocation of divine commandment.Practitioners of all religions have used it at one time or another."Patria y religion;" "Dieu et mon droit," "In hoc signo vinces;" are recognizable forms of this particular tactic through history.

(6) It serves the purpose of inciting the faithful of one religion to follow the political lead, and of provoking reprisals against those who do not; so in the end they join for the sake of survival.Jihadis know and exploit this. The danger of falling into the first trap is that we treat any local lunatic and the enemy who wants to destroy our society the same, turning what should be a war into a police matter. We have been doing that, with dismal results, for 38 years.

(7) The second trap plays into the recruiting abilities of the enemy, exponentially increasing the threat they pose. That's what AQ does. That's what the rabid anti-Islam and Anti-Sharia idiots in the West do, for the benefit of AQ.That's why we do not let that happen in our little corner of the internet. What can I say. We do not like enablers of terrorists whether they do so consciously or not.

(8) This is no small matter, because, today, we are at war.We did not ask for it.We do not crave it nor do we like it.In fact, we despise it.But here we are.It wasn't our decision to make. We're not at war with “terror” nor are we at war with “Islam” anymore than we are at war with artillery or antidisestablishmentarianism (there you go, the longest word in the English language.)

@Debradelai excellent. I finally figured out why I always questioned the two faced Media Flooding Television with pictures of Terror while telling us not to blame the terrorist. Now I research the perpetrator .

(9) We are at war with a cunning multinational organization of fanatics who use terror and Islam as weapons, and who have made their aims and ideology crystal clear to any but the most obtuse.Twitter did not permit me to go deeper into details, so I had to create a more expansive and freer medium. This is a good start.I will be expanding on this matter over the next few weeks.FINIS, for now.https://www.saulmontes-bradley.com/the-new-jihad/

@Debradelai Seemingly the soldiers of the axis spawn from the fundamentalist teachings of Islam. How is it that a culture under attack imports a potential underground. We are at war with ourselves by virtue of "a false utilitarian idea."

@FDDril Hey, moron."the soldiers of the axis" sprang from Catholic, Deustche Evangelische and Shinto (and yes, Islam, too)What they have in common is not their religion. Now, you have one hour to come up with the basis for your absurd statement.

@FDDril Oh! I see. You are, indeed, a moron. No, it is not the current abcess. It is one of the many current abcesses.Your prejudices are part of the same abcess, as you put it.Dickbrain.Do not tag me anymore and control your bigotry. You have 50 minutes left.

@Debradelai terrorism: a tactic used as a weapon. Great explanation. First time hearing it described with an actual defined meaning. Thanks @Debradelai

@Debradelai Haven't read the new article...am hoping that the series will contain at least a sidebar about the connections between terrorism and crime????I've noticed that they do seem to flock together (which means it can't be pinned down to "oh this group over here is into terrorism" -- anywhere you have the criminally motivated, imhao, you will ultimately find some strains of terrorist activity and perhaps vice versa). Even opponents work together. My observations only -- it may be wrong.
