honestly sometimes i feel like shit for liking javascript or being a web developer due to the amount of times that people say that web developers don't have a brain/that the web is absolutely, unconditionally terrible

@slice if there is something you shouldn't value, it's the opinion of other developers on a programming language.write stuff in a language you like and that you are comfortable with.every language has it's good and bad parts after all.

@pixel @slice "every language has its good and bad parts" does not imply that they are all good or fit for a certain purpose and that choosing one over the other is a neutral choice (eg. developing in JS for browsers excludes people with weaker computers (like me) from using your stuff)

@pixel @slice as a developer I don't hate web devs but I do wish they were at least working towards transitioning to a better platform, because mainsteam browsers are not getting substantially better, especially as a user who is very pissed off about their CPU time being wasted on running crap that in browsers that could run as native applications

@pixel @slice this notion that whatever is easy on the (often corporate) developer is best does _not_ align with what's best for users and societyanyways, TLDR: this is a systemic problem and shaming individuals isn't helpful but those individuals should keep the systemic problem in mind nonetheless

@grainloom @pixel unfortunately i don't think that the web will move off of javascript any time soon... however what i can tell you is that there's active effort to help less powerful devices and people with a slow internet connectionbut yeah, you're right
