Watch out though, when Big Gov' will come to the full realisation that Bitcoin is really an existential threat to their power (or if they already knew that, but were just betting if they don't fan the flames it will die off), it might get really ugly.

@Sosthene Yes, but luckily with the satellites and things we're a step ahead of them trying to scrub it from the internet. I sincerely doubt they'll have much traction beyond choking it at the fiat gateways. But that will have unintended consequences, where BTC will become non-converted and invoices will be in BTC instead of USD. Hell, they should try, it would accelerate this.

@TallTim choking the fiat gateways is a no-brainer, but they can do a lot worse than that. I don't want to play the Cassandra especially I've already been talking about that recently, but I don't expect people like rep. Sherman to just say "oh no people are using bitcoins even after we closed Coinbase, blast we're done, just let the dollar go away and peg it to the bitcoin"

@Sosthene @TallTim I'm also cynical, but in other ways. Politicians are employees of donors and lobbyists. The bigger this space gets the harder is going to be messing with it.The incentives to own this "asset" (I fucking hate that term) are gonna increase, as we all know. Political prostitutes and public servants alike will not be unaware of this. They also must know by now that it cannot be shut down. They can only cut themselves from it.So...

@402PaymentRequired @TallTim I won't say that politicians are "employees" of big money, it depends on the country I guess but it is more nuanced than that. At the end of the day, the State is still the biggest gun in town (when it doesn't collapse altogether of course). We all agree I think, but my point is that even if they won't (and maybe don't want to) win the war, they still can harm a lot of us (if only to steal our bitcoins), so better to keep a low profile and be prepared

@Sosthene @TallTim May you know that the buying and selling of regulatory favors is more "nuanced" than you think 😂 And don't forget non-state ordinary criminals as another very good reason to keep a low profile. That's more worrying in my mind than some country going nuts (you can always gtfo)

@Sosthene I know. Not going to give them any ideas, but I'm willing to fight to protect what I've got. If it means going somewhere else, I'll do it.
