Look at this gorgeous thing. I learned to program on this in 1983. The Sharp PC-1211 #retrocomputinghttps://www.instagram.com/seb_ly/p/BxKyhKdp_XV/

@seb_ly Those things were amazing! My father had a PC-1401 and it's pretty much the first thing I programmed on as well. It's quite fascinating that these were around at the same time as the much bigger home computers and packed so much into these tiny devices.

@seb_ly From what I can see, it's just ahead of the curve by using a ton of SMD where most 80's home computers still mostly used THM. Wikipedia claims SMD came "widely into use" in the mid 80's, so that makes sense. if you look at both circuit boards of the 1211 and the 1401 you can actually see the development towards SMD in full effect:http://www.vintagecalculators.com/html/sharp_pc1211-tandy_trs80_pc1.htmlhttp://mycalcdb.free.fr/main.php?l=1&id=1612
