@kaniini My main reason for moving to Lineage with no google apps was the fact that I felt like I had to jump through hoops not to be actively tracked by Google on my phone. I just didn't want that shit anymore. Additionally, they were actively going to brick my shit over time. Seemed worth it to take a leap at an open alternative.Essentially I feel like Tesla as a car was us working backwards to having a vital part of our life be exactly like our stupid smart phones, except because it's a car, at least some people are like "wow, this is super proprietary and this tech is dogshit". The only time people seem to actively not mind this kind of thing (re: appliances) is our phones.

@foggy i have even less than zero interest (somehow) in ever running lineage on anything i have to actually depend on. sorry, but i am really not interested in giving effective root access to people who abuse it for stupid jokes that make the fucking thing unusable. i quit using cyanogenmod for a reason. lineage is just the same old shit with a more community-driven process.i cannot emphasize this enough: the world would be a better place if all of the lineage developers pulled the plug on that project.

@kaniini An appliance that gets fed essential parts of your daily life, thoughts, location and interests. So maybe it's less about the tinkering aspect of FLOSS but more about the transparency, security and privacy implications.
