Unpopular opinion: nano should be the default editor on all Linux distributions, and you should never ship an OS distro with vi as the only option.vi is 1969 GUI. Start up in insert mode, switch commands to Ctrl+Something shortcuts and show read/write/quit hints onscreen to fix

@uliwitness vi is late '70s technology, thank you very much, and it's a huge usability step up from ed, ex, and TECO.nano's a nice little editor, I use it for note-taking sometimes, but it's like giving everyone a tricycle instead of a bicycle with training wheels. You can remove the training wheels and commute to work on a bike, you can't on a trike.

@uliwitness Agree, this is unpopular opinion and it should stay unpopular. There is no reason to remove something powerful and replace it with something useless.
