Why we have to choose between the shit of completely insecure computers and the even bigger pile of shit of insecure computers only bootable with surveillance software provided by manufacturer for "security reasons"

The problem is that manufacturers are doing so as if taking control of your own hardware is "insecure". In fact it is completely possible to be even more "secure" while the user is given control.Well, but again, maybe an average user would just turn off every fucking protection provided by even free-software firmware. But hey there's absolutely nothing we can do about the ignorance of people. It's probably exactly such ignorance that led to the situation today.

@inv0cat10n What I am ranting on here is the "modern mainstream" shit. Of course going non-mainstream or older generations of hardware we can gain a lot in freedom. But the "modern mainstream" stuff shouldn't have been like this in the first place. It's as if freedom and security is in "good old days" -- or maybe it really is.

@PeterCxy it’s all about who owns data. money means nothing. data is the new currency. all of these conveniences come at a cost. technology advances. humanity regresses. it’s sad but the world will implode soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
