The farmers cut strips of flesh off of them to ensure they don't get an infection. They literally have their skin sliced off, as they are alive, without anesthetic, because of how we bred them. It's called mulesing.That's not responsibility, that's abuse. It shows a clear example of a system where billions of animals across the world are subject to horrific pain. They lose their children at birth, they're raped, slaughtered in front of each other, packed tight, not given room to breathe. They never run free, they never have a life. They're born and subject to incredible pain from the minute they walk into life and are pulled away from their mothers to the minute they're put in the supply line and have their necks sliced. There is no responsibility there, only exploitation. That's not what they need, they get what they need on animal sanctuaries, they get what they need when they're rescued, they get what they need when they're subject to love. Not the careless ceaseless exploitation given to them by such a terrible system.

@DetectiveHyde My cousin used to only eat meat he killed himself. Deer no longer have any natural predators since we got rid of wolves and panthers in North America. Therefore they will get too overpopulated and bad things happen when they get overpopulated because it disrupts the natural environment. I respect hunting when it is done like this. I dont really see "prey getting the better of you" thing though. Sure a deer may run away before you can shoot and sometimes you might come home empty handed. But the deer don't really get the better of you. I'm not a fan when people look for a challenge in hunting. Looking for deer with the nicest antlers or looking for the strongest, fastest deer is bad. Natural selection is when the weak are picked off and the future offspring are made by the strongest of the deer. When you pick off the strongest deer natural selection is working backwards and now only the weakest small antlered deer are having children. Which is bad for the species overall.

Next hunting season the deer population overall will be more healthy. Rinse and repeat in order to keep getting bigger deer. @DetectiveHyde I guess it's not really "fair" but it is natural selection and a part of nature. There are different versions of weak though. Lots of factors apply. Sight, smell, hearing, brains. Clearly a deer with better hearing and smell will have an advantage. What constitutes as weak? A runt with certain traits might be more fit for survival than a big strong deer. There are a lot of traits that make an animal more fit. But eventually the weak traits must be phased out for stronger and better ones for the good of survival.

@7even This bothers me. I cannot see the envelope or padlocks. Only the little globe. I like fish. But they are too often abused. I don't really think they should be sold to just anyone. You should be able to prove you have the stuff to properly take care of them and insure they will have a good life. It's difficult.
