Amazon delivery just called me on my phone, and when I picked up and said "Hello?" they hung up on me. Looked out the window and only saw their van driving away. They didn't ring at the door or leave a note either.Called the Amazon support and asked them what all that was about and they promised to make the driver return with my parcel at the end of his shift....and he really just showed up.I'm still a bit confused by all that, but alas, at least I got that package before the weekend!

@fribbledom How did you get them to do that? Whenever I've had a skipped delivery, they always insisted I wait 48 hours before they'd entertain a complaint.

@fribbledom A friend of mine had a weirder situation with Polish Post (Poczta Polska):*sees postman writing down a failed delivery notice and putting it in his mailbox*F> but I'm here, can you just give me the package?P> nope, I don't have the package, it was too bigF> ok, can I take the notice to the post office and get the package now?*post office is 5min walk from here*P> not, it won't be there until I finish my shift and return to post office, around 6 PM

@Wolf480pl Yeah, sounds familiar. I caught the parcel delivery people red-handed a couple of times myself by now 🙄

@Wolf480pl@fribbledomBeen there, as a postman. It is as he said it is.The trick is to write the note BEFORE you go the house. So, you quickly throw the notice in the mailbox, and avoid unpleasant situations. You basically prepare notes for the parcels you can not carry with you. That guy was an amateur. When the shift is over, the undelivered parcels are send (from the delivery center) to the post office (they are two different places).Because, there is that much a post man can carry.Of course, the post company could give the post man a bigger vehicle, or pay over time, or hire more post men. But, nahhh... they'd rather screw the customer, and make the worker an unwilling accomplice. But, isn't this how every line of work works under #capitalism ?

@RBN @fribbledom When shipping with courier companies you're usually asked to provide a phone number when you order.

@fribbledom amazon and many other parcel delivery services are shit. Basically they have a quota of parcels they need to attempt and is basically impossible. So if that can rush through them all and some of them are 'attempted' then they can actually meet a quota. It's a bad practise caused by shitty capitalism woo

@fribbledom they route all calls over munch, they're made to call you if they can't deliver so that person was trying to save time on their shift - calling is now a requirement to marking something as undelivered

@fribbledom Probably because they get paid for an 'attempt'.I couldn't get up early enough to stop the Purolator guy sneaking a door-knocker on to my door: 5am! If they get 'caught' then it takes time to process your signature and hand over the parcel.I just kept getting up earlier and earlier. The game is to zoom through all your 'rezzies' (residential stops) very quickly and make crazy money, then do your commercial stops.
