@gedvondur It's a Google technology standing for : "Accelerated Mobile Pages". AMP pages are stripped down versions of webpages and cached on Google servers for faster loading. Of course, it means Google gets to see all your traffic.Google announced AMP for Email last year and now it is being rolled-out for Gmail, Yahoo Mail and others. Yet another way for Google to pry into your privates.

@fitheach Ah, I see. I only use gmail, so they pretty much own me anyway. AMP from Cisco is Advanced Malware Protection, an endpoint protection solution.

@gedvondur I was going to say that is completely different, but I'd consider any AMP emails to be mailware.

@nik TBH I'd forgotten about AfE as I'd not heard anything about it for ages. I just bet they won't be readable in text mode email clients.

@CrowderSoup Running your own mail server is a good thing to do. Not trivial effort, though. The set up isn't that difficult usually, keeping on top of things can be more burdensome. Don't feel tempted to run it on a home server, best to go for a VPS or similar.

@fitheach OMG, I stopped reading when the I saw the minimum snippet included a <script> tag. I can only rant. Let's bet: how much time will it pass before interactive Web-style GDPR announcements in e-mail start to appear. Start making your bets! Oh, the horror! Lesson from Google: if you want to own users first have the developers in the palm of your hand.

@fitheach looking at mail-in-a-box right now, I'd like to keep maintenance to a minimum if possible, but still want something I have full control over.

@CrowderSoup Not looked at mail-in-a-box before. Their system choices seem reasnoble. I'm not a fan of PHP stuff, but as long as you keep them updated it should fine. Also, backup to S3 isn't what I would choose.Personally, if I were you I'd set up a system from scratch. Postfix would still be a good choice. There are plenty of recipes which you can follow.Good luck.

@CrowderSoup Mentioned Postfix as that is what is used by mail-in-a-box. I mostly use Exim, but Postfix is also good.DOS about $5 per month? Would you need up to 250GB storage?

@fitheach I was under the impression that it was for all your spaces combined. I'm also using DOS for my mastodon instance storage, as well as some other things, so getting good bang for my buck there.

@CrowderSoup Ah, you're using DOS already. OK. Makes sense then.
