I've been talking with my best friend (who is very level-headed and studied psychology in college) about said individual. He was a quadriplegic who drove his electric wheelchair into a swimming pool.It was an open-casket funeral, but I didn't look at him.He was in the pool for nine hours, with that heavy chair on top of him. The coroner put him at the back of the list, so the cops left him in the water.Since it wasn't HIM in the casket--it was his body--I didn't look.Some people have to see. I understand, but I just couldn't.

@ThomasWic @JM @Silver I did see him in the casket. It was so surreal losing him (to me he was eight foot tall and bulletproof) that I had to see him. It helped eventually. My dad couldn't look. When he was in there the coffin was closed.

One Saturday her con artist, crazy boyfriend got blackout drunk, bought a gun and came to the apt. She was furious to see the gun and kicked him out (thanks God he didn’t live with her).He came back later, unknown to us, woke her out of a sound sleep and shot her.She held her arm up in self defense but it did no good.

I didn’t even think about the gun but thank God he left it upstairs. My husband shoved him outside and shortly after the cops were there, I’m talking the whole police Dept, or so it seemed. The fire dept and EMTs got her out quickly. When we got to the hospital she was being bagged. She was Med-flighted to a Boston area hosp.

But it wasn’t her time.The scene at my house was horrific. Blood literally sprayed everywhere. From her bedroom, through her kitchen, down the stairs, on the grass in the front yard, in my kitchen, family room and the basement stairs. By the time she got to the basement it was a trickle.

It took a specialized crew of 4 two days to clean everything.It actually helped me to get out of shock. If she had died that would have been a different story.Unfortunately, she did die 2 years later of a fentanyl overdose. Her PTSD was horrific. She fought hard for a long time.I was relieved that she was now at peace.

I learned of my Dutch brother when he was three.In the end my mother didn't divorce my father, but she insisted that we integrate my brother into her family. He came out here for the first time at seven, on his own, as he insisted.His siblings are 20 years older. He was very brave and relaxed.Now he's 37 and a dad. Just my bro. All is well.
