@wakarimasen Your post kind of clued me into the fact that most of them would probably be Mastodon, so then most of my guesses leaned that way and I only lost when one happened to be Pleroma. I think pretty much all .social stuff is masto. If I've seen a masto instance on the tld, I feel that they're probably all that, even though there's nothing technical making this true. @brad I was also under the impression that longer tlds are often Mastodon instances, whereas two or three letter tlds are often Pleroma instances. No clue if that's actually true.

@othinus Probably. After picking an instance, you could load its public timeline and pick a recent post from there instead of just showing the domain, but that sounds like it has too many edge cases for it to be fun to implement.
