When liberals try to say that I appropriate someone else's culture, it's their ignorance showing and it's that resistance to the dialogue that makes it remain awkward. No one thinks I am appropriating them. They start talking to me like I understand.

@shaen I frequently meet people from other cultures because professionally I work with various national and international organizations and I attend massive international conferences with 100,000+ people from all around the world. I will frequently learn something cultural from someone and I’ll ask “how can I adopt this into my life without appropriating your culture?” And their response is _always_ “what? It’s not appropriation. I just shared it with you. Please do adopt it into your life if it helps you!”

@garrett @shaen I have learned things from masters of cultures very different than my own, and never once was I restricted from practicing those things.
