       thinking of creating a blu-ray player for hipsters that makes loud mechanical noises when you insert a disc, doesn't load menus and immediately plays the movie (no special features for you), takes five seconds to start and stop fast forwarding or rewinding, outputs composite 4:3 video with hardcoded letterboxes (or pan & scan!), simulates colour bleed and magnetic lines of static rolling down the screen, has a segmented LCD display that always flashes 12:00 unless you can figure out the unintuitive controls, and produces a half-static image with broken colours when you press pause. also sometimes it just destroys the disc

       @lynnesbian Honestly the only thing I miss with VHS in comparaison to DVD:- state saving is builtin (same for manual rewind) meaning the power can go out, it would not matter much- you can skip the MPAA bullshitWhat I do not miss of VHS: wonkyness and the horrible large size.

       @lynnesbian Well, basically why I only played DVDs on my computer.Mplayer or whatever at the time didn’t recognise this and actually as it didn’t implement menus often just played the movie directly.
