@nosleep That's fine. Just remember if it ever happens: physicality is a strength. You're a physically extant being, so the laws of nature protect you if nothing else. You can only be meaningfully hurt by other physical beings. You have nothing to fear from ghosts and such, only gopniks.

@DetectiveHyde @nosleep my dad would crash at a friend's house when he was like my age, and he'd complain to his friend that there was this old man standing outside in the garden, pacing back and forth at nighttime. He asked him about a relative living in a nearby flat, and if they liked to garden at night, and the guy said "oh don't worry about him. He's just the prior tennant." That story creeped me the fuck out. Didn't bother my dad at all.

@nosleep @DetectiveHyde I don't really know much about these sorts of things. I'm fairly certain things like ouija have been debunked. But, I can't deny this feeling in my life that there's some things I can't explain with science. That's not to say it's necessarily unscientific, just that science hasdn't caught up to it yet and discovered the answers. Maybe some things can't be explained. It bothers me that I'll likely never know. Knowledge is power. It fights fear, and pain, and suffering. And the fear of never knowing scares me.

I just can't explain it, and there's some things that can't be explained. It pisses me off too. I would like to learn everything there is to know by the time I die, but obviously that's physically impossible. Brains are like a harddrive, with finite space, and it bothers me. We will never know, and then there's also the fact the as history progresses, knowledge evolves and changes. Even if hypothetically I knew everything ever that existed up to this point, a week from now there'd be more to know. We can never know everything, and it maddens me. Genuinely this keeps me up at night.

@nosleep if this helps at all. I've read extensively on this sort of thing as I'm fascinated by all forms of knowledge, and while Im not sure what to believe myself, it might help you feel calmer. As long as you leave them alone, and don't invoke names. Don't try and contact whatever it is. As long as you keep your immune system up and don't abuse your body with drugs, they can't really hurt you. just don't invite them into your room, or your mind. do whatever you can to put them out of your mind. I promise you within this realm of possibility, they can not hurt you. Do not try to summon them. Ouija is bullshit, but I believe making contact in any capacity can be ill advised. In most cases they're not actually sapient. Just memory residue left behind from a person's emotions, of a life unfulfilled. Apparently our emotions and feelings are surprisingly powerful, and can leave an imprint in the fabric of reality. That is obviously a running theory. Science hasn't touched any of this properly.

Hollywood portrays it that way, and there may be some basis for it, but from I understand within the deep lore of this sort of thing, whether it be overactive imaginations, or hallucinations or whatever, evidence suggest that "malevolent beings" have a lot of power, and can do quite some damage if you let them.

@DetectiveHyde @nosleep you say that, but I was that person. I had an encounter as a kid, and I still don't know if I was dreaming or not. My brain has lied to me before. I've had instances where some game was advertised on the tv, and the next day I go to the store searching for it. I looked everywhere, spent hours online. Even checked sther nationalities' websites. It never existed, and I dreamt the whole thing. What really muddles things is we can't even trust our own perceptions.

@DetectiveHyde @nosleep alternatively it may not be specifically emotions that causes the ethereal imprint. A lot of these cases have a pattern of containing immense trauma, so maybe it times of great stress, horror and dread that causes it. It is a fascinating phenomenon though, whatever it is.
