The #CopyrightDirective is coming, we need to show the MEPs how massively the EU Internets will be affected.We are preparing a list of all EU-based #Pleroma, #Mastodon, #GNUSocial, #Peertube, #Funkwhale, and any other instances.Please *contact me*. @Mac_CZ the ones bullying the instances would be the large copyright holders, and they can get such a list easily themselves. We are trying to stop them from getting the tools they could use to bully.

@rysiek @lain yep, if you accept donations for upkeep of a server, you likely already are operating for profit as far as the taxman is concerned. Whether you register an economic activity or not is another matter (but you really shouldn't cheat on taxes!). Obviously @rysiek is incapable of seeing that because of the censorious nature of mastodon.social, but I'm just putting this up for anyone else interested.

Ok, 3h later we have ~140 instances with over half a million registered users.Some hosted on @mastohost, some on raspberry-pis at home. Some gynormous, some single-user instances.What I like about this is how diverse it is, and how it completely uproots all the assumptions MEP Voss and his ilk have about "platforms".Now to make this into good talking points. But that's tomorrow. :)

@dgold @lain @rysiek To be honest, I don't trust EU Parliament much both because of lack of competence and because of corporate lobbying pressure.But I wonder if the directive could not backfire. After all, if I put my videos on my home server and it get replicated over and over by other home servers, there's no way for this directive to kick.So ultimately, couldn't it incentivize home servers, ultimately spreading #freedom exactly when it try to censor?Or maybe ISP are effected too?
