Let's stop writing new software in C, okay?https://twitter.com/sgrif/status/1095355375757520901

@ceejbot I wish Rust was as standalone as C (not excited about package managers with 100s of dependencies as part of a workflow). Go is a little better, but unsuited for smaller embedded or non-server stuff.

@swetland I am less terrified of dependency trees in Rust than I am in javascript. The compiler is such an amazing defense. Life is too short for me to write my own http implementation again, ya know? I like some code re-use.

@ceejbot It's about not needing all that baggage to do simple things. I don't mind that it's all there for folks that want it or projects that need it. I'm annoyed that (last I looked) there were no clear docs for how to *just* use the compiler without using cargo and its 100s of deps, and the core library layering was very libc dependent and all or nothing-ish (not embedded friendly). People love saying C is crap and then offering solutions that bring their own, different problems.
