@Sir_Boops wait where is that guy taking the "ceding that it's a bad thing" from? Being born with something which you can't change doesn't make it inherently bad. Also #queer

@Sir_Boops I think their complaint is that if you purely use the 'born this way' narrative to say that homophobia/transphobia is wrong, you're doing nothing to argue against the idea that being gay/trans itself is wrong, merely saying 'we can't help being wrong because we have no control over this'.

@Sir_Boops Without context, this is pretty bad. I really hope there's more to it though

@Sir_Boops It's certainly badly written. Are they trying to assert that transphobia and/or homophobia is something you're born with, or that non-cis-het people are somehow tacitly admitting that their state is morally wrong?

@Sir_Boops It's a bit of a mess, but no way I try to read it comes out bad to me. A clearer form I've come across and liked is the point that "born this way" doesn't address the idea that it's wrong, and people do try to "fix" the way they're born all the time. If it's something bad but we can't help it, then we should want a cure, right?

I think it is saying that by focusing on the fact that homosexuality is not a choice and therefore should not be condemned, one implicitly shies away from defending the right to be homosexual because there's nothing wrong with it.In other words, if there is nothing wrong with being homosexual one shouldn't make excuses for it, because that implies that excuses are warranted.

@sirboops I think they're overthinking it. The person making that argument is typically implicitly assuming that homosexuality is morally equivalent to heterosexuality, or at least morally neutral, so condemnation of people who are doing nothing wrong is immoral. There's kind of an appeal to nature fallacy in there though, if they think that _anything_ is morally ok BECAUSE they were born that way.
