whatever happened to windows 3.x style games? Like Rodents Revenge or Chips Challenge? Games with a flat, "hard" tactile feel from instant starts and stops and incredibly precise responsiveness.Compare it to any retro 2D platformer on steam, which feels like flash, and feels cheap.Or things like the isometric 2.5D games from the 90s compared to cheap-feeling 3D environments with constant clipping and a lightweight plastic feeling.Where does that difference in feel come from? Maybe it's just nostalgia?

@abbenm In the 90s if you wanted to make those games, you had to know how to program in ASM and C! This means only skilled programmers could make games... this means that every game has it's own engine, and unique feeling...Today all the 2D games are made from extremely heavy-weight, premade engines, designed for non-programmers or low-skill programmers... so it's much slower and all the games end up feeling the same... because they all use the same premade engines and the programmers aren't skilled enough to express themselves...
