@brandon If you like customizing your laptop then this may not be the right distro due to it's limited options but for general everyday use it's pretty good.I suggest you try it on a vm for some time first.

@risorg It's on my desktop and generally I'm happy with it. I'm mostly worried about battery life. Currently I'm running Ubuntu MATE

@brandon I've got elementary installed on my Tuxedo Infinitybook. Intel CPU with Intel graphics card. First 0.4, now 5.0. I can't complain about battery life. It's pretty similar to other Linux distributions/desktop environments. But of course a lack luster compared to Windows installations or MacBooks.@risorg

@brandon Absolutely. That's the case with most of the laptops. The cooperation between hardware manufacturers and Microsoft is good. So if battery is a big concern of yours, you should look for alternatives. If having an hour less battery is okay for you, elementary is a very good choice! That would be something around 4 to 6, maybe up to 7 hours of battery life I guess. Depending on the laptop and the installed battery. @risorg

@brejoc @risorg Weird, I've had the opposite experience with my laptop. More battery life with Linux distros in general. Windows would give me 3 and Linux would give me 4+

@brandon @brejoc since I put ubuntu on my gf's laptop, the battery life is ridiculously long. It's a really, really shitty laptop too. Probably has a lot to do with the CPU and RAM not always being maxed.
